The JoBoE Lab has experience in testing the biological activity of the plant extracts and studying the properties of bioactive chemicals from plant derivatives that promote bone and cartilage health. In particular, we recently demonstrated the positive effect of extracts from leaves of Cucurbita moschata in terms of stimulation of human osteoblast activity and inhibition of osteoclast differentiation. This dual effect has been mainly attributed to extractable substances (such as 13-OH-9Z,11E,15E-octadecatrienoic acid).
